Watersports on the Lakes: Garda and Como

For the outdoor enthusiast who has a penchant for watersports, you don’t always have to head to the oceans to fulfill your hankering. You can enjoy a myriad of water based activities on freshwater lakes throughout Europe, and there’s no better option than the beautiful Italian lakes of Lake Garda and Lake Como.

Whereas Lake Como holidays are often considered the more relaxing option, Lake Garda holidays provide visitors with plenty of thrills and adventure, both on and off the water.

Lake Como

If you want to try your hand at a range of watersports, the north of the lake probably provides the best conditions for it. On the west side, you will find Domaso, whilst on the east side, you will find Dervio – both of which offer courses and equipment hire for windsurfing and kitesurfing. With great wind conditions and plenty of space to play around with, Lake Como can be your adventure playground.

Try your hand at wakeboarding near Bellagio, where you can enroll on a crash course in this awesome sport.

Explore life under the surface and choose to dive in one of the deepest lakes in Europe. At 410m at the deepest point, you can find plenty of diving courses and providers within the waterfront resorts.

Lake Garda

Listing the number of watersports available in Lake Garda could be exhaustive but to name a few windsurfing is rife on the lake and Torbole in the north is perfect.

Jetskiing and waterskiing are available in certain areas, namely in the south where it’s calmer and less crowded with windsurfers.

Sailing schools can be found throughout the resorts and the crystal clear waters play great host to snorkeling and diving opportunities.

Plan your activity filled holiday today and look forward to the water-based sports that you have in store with an Italian lake holiday.
